Our Initiatives

Many of our events benefit the SeriousFun Children’s Network. Philanthropy Chairman Nate Samuels ’23 did an amazing job organizing a Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme fundraiser, a Pie-Tau fundraiser with the new Omega class, and two formal-attire casino nights. In total, Nate led the chapter to raise $1,300 in the Spring 2024 semester for the SeriousFun Children’s Network, our national philanthropy.

Nate also had the brothers of the Alpha Tau chapter participate in Cornell's Relay for Life on April 27, 2024. Brothers completed many laps around the AG Quad for several hours, raising $333. The chapter placed as the #1 participating fraternity on campus, and the #4 team overall. Additionally, Nate ran Pie Kappa Tau with the new associate members on March 1st, 2021, raising money by letting students pie the Phi Taus.

In honor of Phillip Zukowski, the chapter organized a Teddy Bear Brigade event, raising $360. Phillip was a beloved brother of Phi Kappa Tau whose memory continues to inspire us.

We have hosted other events, including 5k’s, bake sales, and karaoke nights. During December 2020, we took part in SeriousFun’s “25 for 25” challenge to commemorate the organization’s 25th anniversary. Our brothers collectively raised $1,563, the highest total of all participating Phi Tau chapters. One of our most popular past philanthropy fundraisers is SpikeTau, an event in which brothers set up a spikeball tournament on the Arts Quad, with proceeds going toward SeriousFun.
